What is a claim or offset?

A claim is a charge made against a counterparty for something they over-billed or failed to deliver. Instead of waiting for them to return the money, the usual approach is to deduct it from the balance you owe them. That is called an offset.

It is a faster and safer way to recover the money: you collect by subtracting, not by invoicing.

Example: when closing the account with Wynwood, the outstanding balance was USD 4,020.00. A claim for excess cleaning charges of –USD 1,583.96 was deducted, and the net payment made was USD 2,436.04. The claim was recovered in full without a separate process.
