General Questions
The RNT (Registro Nacional de Turismo) is the mandatory registry for anyone providing tourism services in Colombia, including tourist housing: renting a property by the night or week. It is filed with the chamber of commerce and renewed every year.
In a building under propiedad horizontal, the building rules must also expressly allow tourist use of the units. Without an RNT or that permission, the property can't legally operate as tourist lodging. Providers with an RNT also pay the FONTUR levy.
